HELLO! I'M CHELSEA WATSON
I’m a UX designer, strategic marketing instructor, world traveller and obsessive cat mom.
I have over seven years of experience, designing products and developing strategies for large brands such as Blue Shield of California, AT&T, Visa and Nissan. Working on a diverse set of local, international and in-house projects, I've gained the confidence and experience to be comfortable collaborating with any team at any level. My background is in visual communication, information design and search analytics.
I'm currently an Experience Lead at SapientRazorfish in Toronto, Canada.
I really really love what I do.
(and my cat, I really really love her too)
A Selection of Brands I've Worked With
My year leading projects on the Customer Experience team at this award-winning digital agency allowed me to grow my leadership skills, flex my strategic and creative muscles, and work with a diverse group of clients. Key projects included leading UX and content strategy for the DIRTT responsive site redesign, and being integrated into the Alberta Treasury Branch innovation design team to help bring their new digital challenger bank product to life.
Clients: DIRTT, ATB, Brookfield Residential, CUPS, Calgary Economic Development
In this part-time teaching position, I combined marketing theory with real-world application of concepts to develop course materials, assignments, presentations and lectures for the Marketing & Strategic Communications Certificate program.
Courses: Intro to Marketing & Strategic Communications, Digital Marketing Research
My time on the User Experience team at Critical Mass saw me leading UX design on numerous web and app projects for global Fortune 500 companies while providing career management, training and performance reviews for junior and intermediate team members. Key projects included leading a four person UX team to redesign the Blue Shield of California member experience, developing detailed workflows and prototypes for numerous experiences within the AT&T mobile and desktop buyflows, and playing a key role in the award-winning redesign of Visa's intranet app and site.
Clients: AT&T, Visa, Blue Shield of California, American College of Education, Big Rock Brewery
During my stint in SEO I found my niche by advocating for content driven search engine optimization strategy, refining clients' digital properties to increase value, traffic and conversions while maximizing technical health to enhance user experience and search engine visibility. Key projects included analyzing internal and external search behaviour to develop the content strategy for Nissan's Competitive Advantage, and determining the Citi ThankYou rewards SEO strategy based on an extensive content and technical audit.
Clients: Nissan USA, Infiniti Global, Citibank
A few months after graduating university I quit my job, sold my apartment, and bought a one way ticket to London as the start to a solo trip around the world. This year of travel and self-discovery took me to over 15 countries throughout the UK, Europe and Africa. I funded my travels by picking up freelance design jobs and kept a collection of my work, inspiration, recommendations and stories on my (now kind of dated, but still pretty fun to look at) blog, Aesthetic of Lostness.
Clients: PARK, Deville Coffee, CJSW, Pure Technologies, Lakeridge Energy, Calgary Counselling Centre
